Ryan is a seasoned expert in multi-site management, strategic planning, and executive leadership. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Asset Living, a company comprised of nearly 6,000+ employees, Ryan McGrath oversees all operational aspects of the firm—leading an executive team to deliver the highest value to clients. He is responsible for the company’s growth initiatives, acquisition strategy, and overall talent development. Under his direction, the family-built real estate firm has grown from a small, Houston-based company into the fourth-largest property management firm in the nation with over 200,000 units under management.
Prior to joining Asset in 2007, Ryan worked in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs and was responsible for the execution of M&A and financing transactions. He is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics while competing on the varsity soccer team. Ryan is currently Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s (YPO) Houston Chapter, a Lifetime Ambassador for Texas Children’s Hospital, a member of the Board of Visitors for MD Anderson, and the Board of Directors for Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. Most recently, Ryan was named a 2021 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
A native Houstonian, Ryan resides in his hometown with his wife, Meredith, his children, Stone and Tess, and his two labs, Sako and Gunner. He enjoys outdoor adventure sports, mixed martial arts, reading, and spending time with his family. Be sure to ask him about his efforts to become the world’s best ping-pong player.
Gretchen Stephenson is the Chief Financial Officer and leads Finance, Treasury, and Accounting for Asset Living. She has worked in executive financial leadership roles for over 25 years, gaining experience and expertise in financial planning and management, business transformations and controllership. At Asset Living, her goals include driving increased value and growth for our clients and employees, guiding strategic initiatives, and leading a high performing team of finance professionals. Gretchen is a former Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
When Gretchen is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding her Peloton as much as possible and following her beloved Aggies.
Joey leads Asset Living’s legal team, which oversees the company’s legal and risk functions – including handling legal disputes, leasing materials, insurance procurement, contract negotiations, M&A, and operational support. Prior to Asset, Joey spent four years in private practice as a commercial litigator in Houston. He has worked in the property management industry for over ten years, gaining a breadth of expertise in the variety of legal issues pertinent to the industry. At Asset Living, his goals include efficiently managing open legal matters, working with clients and their counsel to resolve legal issues, managing the company’s client-exclusive insurance program, supporting the company’s M&A initiatives, and providing the best possible support and guidance to the company’s executive and operations teams.
Joey graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Management. In addition, he also earned JD and MBA degrees from Baylor University. Outside the office, Joey enjoys spending time with friends and family, sports, and putting his mind to strategy games.
Rulissa is responsible for leading and overseeing human resources at Asset Living. She has worked in the HR industry for 25 years, gaining experience and expertise in benefits, human relations, and compliance with employment law. At Asset Living, her goals include empowering our properties and corporate teams to attract and retain top talent, creating the best possible employee experience, and helping every Asset employee reach their full potential within the company.
Rulissa is SPHR certified and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Southern Nazarene University. When Rulissa is not in the office, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family (dogs included!), traveling, and live music.
Alex Moore is Asset Living’s Chief People Officer. She is responsible for driving all programs and initiatives associated with talent strategy and people engagement for the company. At Asset Living, she ensures the company attracts, develops, and retains the best talent in the industry by consistently evaluating and strengthening the company’s recruitment, mobility, learning and development, culture, and wellness efforts. Her goal is to serve all of Asset’s people through embedding the company’s values and opportunities for career growth into every employee’s experience at the company. She has worked in the people function for 10+ years, previously in the technology start-up and consulting industries. Alex went to the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Corporate Communications. Outside of the office, Alex spends her time with her husband and two sons, travels, volunteers, and stays active by playing tennis, running, and cycling.
David is responsible for partnerships, strategic initiatives, and M&A for Asset Living. David has worked in finance for more than 10 years, gaining experience and expertise in real estate, acquisitions, and financial reporting. At Asset Living, his goals include driving organizational growth through acquisitions and leading initiatives for continuous improvement.
David is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration from Valparaiso University. When David is not in the office, he enjoys kayaking, reading, and spending time with his wife and two-year-old son.
Dan Wolff is an Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and leads reporting, budgeting, and analysis for Asset Living’s Corporate Finance team. He has worked in finance for 10 years, gaining experience and expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and leading finance teams in large corporations (Amazon, Lenovo, and IBM). At Asset Living his goals include building a first-class finance organization to scale with the business, and providing accurate, in-depth analysis to enable Asset Living to provide the best service possible. Dan holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelors of Science, Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
When Dan is not in the office, he enjoys doing activities with his two children, squeezing in a Peloton ride, and exploring Houston on monthly “Parents’ Night Out” evenings with his wife.
Kate Novick is a Controller and leads the accounting department for Asset Living’s corporate business. She has worked in the real estate industry for the last 5 years, gaining experience and expertise in property accounting (multi-family and campus housing), accounting for new development and construction, and financial reporting. She previously worked for Ernst & Young providing assurance services for clients in financial services and real estate. At Asset Living, her goals include supporting the growth of the organization by providing high-quality financial information and fostering a culture of continual learning and improvement in her department.
Kate is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Accountancy from the Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University.
When Kate is not in the office, she enjoys baking sourdough bread, making friends with neighborhood cats, running, and exploring all of the barbeque Texas has to offer with her husband and daughter.
Julie is responsible for overseeing client relations and new business efforts for the student housing division for Asset Living. She has worked in the property management industry for 31 years, with the last 16 years devoted to student housing operations. Julie has developed a strong reputation in the industry for being a leader in student housing operations and serves on numerous panels highlighting innovative operating procedures.
Julie is a graduate of the University of Houston with an associate degree in Real Estate Finance and Appraisals. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for friends and family, watching old western movies, and watching hockey (she’s a die-hard fan).
David is responsible for assisting in the overall operations for the multi-family division. He has worked in the industry for over 40 years, gaining expertise in commercial mortgage banking and multi-family management. At Asset Living, his goals include assuring the best possible experience for our clients and residents, as well as providing the best possible work environment for our employees. Prior to joining the Asset team, David was a founder of Greystone Management Services in Houston, TX. Greystone grew to 14,000 units, eventually selling in 1993 to the entity that would become Greystar. David worked at Greystar until 2000, when Greystone Asset Management was formed.
David holds his CPM designation and is the past President of both the Houston Apartment Association and Texas Apartment Association. He is also a member of the national faculty for The Institute of Real Estate Management and an adjunct professor at The University of Houston Bauer School of Business. David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin and has also served in the Air Force and Texas Air National Guard.
When David is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking and traveling, and reading military history.
Tom is responsible for overseeing the operations and new business efforts for the multi-family division. Celebrating nearly 40 years as a recognized industry leader, Tom has held executive positions with a select number of the country’s premiere multi-family owners and operators. Prior to his current role, Tom was the owner of Shelton Residential, a company which joined the Asset portfolio in 2020, expanding our Southwest footprint by 17,000 units. As a Principal of Asset Living, Tom continues to lead the operations, performance, and expansion of the combined firms throughout major markets in the West and Southwest. By expertly leveraging and refining the best practices of our combined companies, Tom ensures that current and potential clients receive best-in-class service that results in improved performance.
Previously, Tom served as the Chairman of the Board of both the Arizona Multihousing Association and the National Apartment Association, as well as a board member of the California Apartment Association. He is an active member of the National Multi-Family Housing Council and the Institute of Real Estate Management, from which he holds a CPM designation. In addition, he has his brokers licenses in both Arizona and California. Tom received a Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
Away from the office, Tom and his family enjoy their home in the mountains of northern Arizona, golfing, five active grandsons, and corralling their two maniac Yorkies, Ricky and Lucy.
Hugh is responsible for overseeing the affordable division and assisting the multi-family division. In addition, he helps lead strategic new business initiatives for Asset Living. Hugh has over 30 years of real estate experience, spanning management, brokerage, lending, and investment. Throughout his career, he has completed lease ups on over 28,000 new and renovated units, while also holding various executive positions at Capstone Real Estate Services, The Trammell Crow Company, Integrity Properties and most recently, Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services.
Hugh earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Dean’s List) from Texas Wesleyan University. After graduating, Hugh was appointed by President Reagan to serve as Congressional Liaison for The White House in Washington D.C. Hugh is the former President of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas (AAGD) and serves on the Executive Committee of the Texas Apartment Association (TAA). He has been recognized by the Institute of Real Estate Management as a Certified Property Manager. On a federal level, Hugh lobbies on behalf of issues important to real estate investment, development, and housing affordability, in addition to serving several nonprofit organizations in board and advisory capacities.
Michael is responsible for overseeing the operations and new business efforts for the affordable division of Asset Living. He started his career 40 years ago in the multi-family industry serving at the Dallas Housing Authority for several years before founding M-DC Group, where he served as president in various management and ownership firms specializing in affordable housing compliance, new construction, and asset growth. In 2000, M-DC Group, Inc. (known as Alpha Management) formed a partnership with The Barnes Company to found Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services in Dallas, Texas. Michael served as partner and owner of Alpha Barnes, successfully growing the organization to manage 30,000 units of affordable and conventional housing while being recognized as an industry leader in tax credit compliance.
Michael is a graduate from High Point University in North Carolina and is a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP). He has served in volunteer leadership roles throughout his career and has continued current roles with the Board of Directors of Texas Inter-Faith Housing, Inc., of Houston, Texas. He was previously the President of the Rural Rental Housing Association of Texas (RRHA), the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers (TAAHP), as well as local Apartment Associations and the Texas Apartment Association (TAA). He is currently the President of the Texas Apartment Association Education Foundation (TAAEF).
Bryan is an accomplished leader and multifamily operator that leads the business development and operations team in Colorado. He has worked in the multifamily industry for the past 26 years as an owner, operator, and partner, successfully delivering on our promise of Excellence to our stakeholders. Using his ability to lead with enthusiasm and his compassion for others, Bryan creates an inspiring culture where team members are appreciated and motivated to deliver results for our clients and team members.
Prior to joining Asset in 2021, Bryan co-founded two multifamily investment and management firms; Echelon Property Group and Baron Properties. Echelon Property Group joined the Asset portfolio in 2021, expanding our Western presence by 14,000 units. In his previous roles, Bryan was responsible for corporate strategy, business development, and securing debt and equity for value-add acquisitions. He acquired 40 multifamily communities valued at $600 million and created over $150 million of value for clients and investors. Bryan was also an acquisitions manager for ProLogis, a global industrial REIT, and a mortgage banker. Bryan received his MBA from the University of Denver in Real Estate and Construction Management and his B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado. Mr. Stern is a board member of the YPO (Young Presidents Organization), is active in the Apartment Association of Metro Denver, and is a licensed Colorado real estate broker.
Away from the office, he and his wife Ann and daughters Kathryn, Alexandra, and Grace enjoy adventure travel and time together enjoying the Colorado outdoors. Bryan also enjoys playing hockey, skiing, golf, and boating.
As a Principal in the Denver office of Asset Living, Drake has lead oversight responsibilities for the Colorado portfolio including all corporate and community operations, implementation of capital improvement strategies, and client relations.
An expert in property management, Drake has over 25 years of local experience in multifamily ownership, management, and value creation. Drake co-founded Echelon Property Group, a Denver-based multifamily investment and management firm that managed 14,000units and joined the Asset Living platform in 2021. Since its formation in 2010, Echelon grew to over 300employees, 14,000 units under management, invested over $100 million in capital improvements, and leased up over 2,000 new apartment homes.
Prior to forming Echelon, Mr. Powell was the Senior Vice President of Baron Properties for over 11 years, playing an integral role in managing the company's operations and capital deployment, including 30 acquisitions totaling more than $450 million, community renovation projects totaling more than $20 million, as well as creating and directing the management platform that expanded from its inception to managing over 4,500 units. Drake started his career with District and Area Management positions at Lincoln Property Company and Equity Residential.
Mr. Powell is a Colorado native and holds a BA degree from The Colorado College. Mr. Powell is a licensed Colorado real estate broker and Past President and Hall of Fame member of the Apartment Association of Metro Denver. He is a long-serving member of the Regis Jesuit High School Planning and Major Projects Committee. As evidenced with a bike on his office wall, Drake is an avid cyclist and is passionate about skiing, golfing and traveling with his wife and two sons.
Stephen is responsible for overseeing Asset’s client acquisition group, which includes business development and client portfolio services. He has over 20 years of operational real estate experience, with expertise in multi-family and student housing property management, asset management, and acquisitions in both domestic and international markets. At Asset, his goals include guiding high profile institutional investors, private equity groups, family offices, and high net worth individuals through their analysis and strategy surrounding acquisition, development, and disposition decisions.
Stephen holds a Master of Business Administration from Goizueta Business School at Emory University, a top 20 national program, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Kennesaw State University. Outside of work, he enjoys exercise, perpetual online shopping for unique cars and bucket list vehicles, and cherishing his time as a proud father of three.
Jason is responsible for leading the Asset Living business development department. In his 17 year Asset Living career he has been responsible for supervising multiple portfolios of student housing and multi-family properties nationwide and also overseeing our new development lease-up team, along with the training department. Jason’s 28 years of experience in student housing and multi-family provides a wealth of knowledge and in-depth, hands-on experience with full-service dormitory and high and mid-rise mixed use properties, including new developments. At Asset Living, Jason’s goals include increasing the overall size of assets under management through oversight of the business development team, and continually working in lockstep with existing clients to expand their portfolio with continued focus on client relationships. His goals also include training and mentoring every member of the Asset Living family, leading the new development team in lease-ups nationwide while providing pre-development consulting to clients.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two beautiful daughters, morning workouts, and golfing whenever he can.
JC Reeves is an Executive Vice President leading the multi-family business development arm for Asset Living’s national portfolio. He has worked in the real estate industry for eight years and has gained expertise in property and market research, client acquisitions, and underwriting. Since joining Asset Living, he has grown the managed portfolio by more than 65,000 units and continues to lead the sales team to provide best in class services for all of our clients. JC is an escrow officer, licensed real estate agent, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University. When JC is not in the office or on the road, he enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his wife and son, Bennett.
Jake is responsible for developing and expanding Asset Living's multi-family portfolio nationwide. He has worked in the real estate industry for seven years, gaining expertise in asset management, client portfolio growth, and market analysis. As a Regional Lease-up Specialist, he managed a portfolio of new developments and stabilized properties from the ground up. At Asset Living, his goals include growing the multi-family platform while assisting his clients with the growth of their properties.
Jake holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Mississippi. Outside of the office he enjoys golfing, hunting, and rooting for all his troubled sports teams.
Casey Cobb is a Vice President and leads business development for Asset Living's affordable and multi-family housing sector business. He has worked in the real estate industry for over seven years, gaining experience and expertise in investment assessments and strategies, market and property evaluations, and asset optimization. At Asset Living, his goals include helping clients achieve their investment objectives, providing exceptional service and insight to clients, and ensuring the best possible outcomes. Casey graduated on the President's List and holds a Bachelor's degree in Real Estate from the University of North Texas.When Casey is not in the office, he enjoys rock climbing, reading, and traveling. While business development is his primary job function by day, Casey also enjoys exploring new places and learning about different cultures. A fun fact about Casey is that he has climbed some of the most challenging rock faces around the world.
Tyler Johnson is a Division President and leads Operations for the Central region of Asset Living's Market Rate and Affordable portfolio. He has worked in the property management industry for 15 years, gaining experience and expertise in new construction lease-ups, value-add repositioning, compliance monitoring, and underwriting. At Asset Living, his goals include developing and retaining the best talent in the industry, executing best-in-class standard operating procedures, and employing cutting edge leasing and operating technology to maximize value. Tyler holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from Texas A&M.
When Tyler is not in the office, he enjoys time with family, home improvement projects, and barbeque. A fun fact about Tyler is that he has completed a 140.6 mile Ironman triathlon.
Stephanie Nascimento is Division President and leads Central Texas's Property Management Operations team. She has over 25 years of experience in the multi-family industry with a focus on Class A lease-ups, value add rehab, and stabilized assets ranging from all class levels. Stephanie is also involved in strategic client relationships and business development. Previously, Stephanie has held Senior Leadership roles at Cardinal Group, RPM, and Alliance Residential, overseeing these organizations' strategic planning and growth efforts.
When Kate is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, Ethan and Addison, and our two dogs. My daughter's competitive and Highschool cheer keeps us busy. We also enjoy attending and traveling to Texas A&M Aggie football games, spending time on the lake, and traveling to new places.
Robert Hicks is a Division President and leads the western division for Asset Living’s conventional business. He has worked in the industry for 27 years, gaining experience and expertise in corporate administration, asset and property management. At Asset Living, his goals include providing a “best in class” operational platform for both our associates and clients. Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Theory with an emphasis in Organizational Communication and Business Management from Arizona State University. When Robert is not in the office or on the road, he enjoys spending time with his children Brennan, Grace, Jackson, and Hanna. While Division President is his primary job function by day, Robert also enjoys playing pickleball and attending various music festivals across the country.
Bonnie Smetzer is an Executive Vice President and leads multifamily operations in Florida and the Southeast Coast. She has worked in the apartment industry over 40 years and is experienced in both market rate and affordable housing including new construction, mixed-use, mixed income, garden, and high-rise apartments. Bonnie was a founding Partner and Principal of JMG Realty, which sold to Asset Living in 2021. Bonnie is a past President of the Space Coast Apartment Association and the Florida Apartment Association and serves on the NAA Board of Directors as a Region 9 RVP. She received the Advocate of the Year Award in 2020 from the National Apartment Association, the Hall of Fame Award in 2021 from the Florida Apartment Association, the Advocate of the Year award in 2022 from the Apartment Association of Greater in 2022, and the Neil Armstrong Award in 2020 from the Space Coast Apartment Association. Bonnie is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Florida and serves on the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulations Hotel & Restaurant Advisory Council, the first multifamily operator to hold a seat on the council. Bonnie attended the University of Georgia and received her Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management 1985 and her HCCP designation from the National Association of Home Builders.
When not in the office, Bonnie is an advocate for the apartment industry at the local, state, and national level and enjoys butterfly gardening.
LuAnne Acton Ross is an Executive Vice President and oversees a multifamily portfolio in the Southeast, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic, and is heavily involved in Client Relations and Business Development. She has worked in the industry for 30+ years, gaining experience and expertise in all aspects of operations. At Asset Living, her goals include making sure the operation teams manage to the clients’ expectations. LuAnne has extensive expertise in economic and market analysis, investor and client relations, property acquisition/disposition supervision, transaction and financial oversight, and business development. LuAnne has earned the prestigious CPM® designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management LuAnne is an approved instructor for CAM designation classes and is a frequent speaker at state and national industry-related events. LuAnne has served as an officer or board member of the National, State, and local Apartment Associations. When away from the office, LuAnne enjoys spending time with family and friends on the ski slopes or traveling.
Judy Blaes is a Senior Vice President and leads the Colorado regional portfolio and team for Asset Living’s conventional multi-family portfolio. She has worked in the industry for over 25 years, gaining experience in building high-performance teams and driving operational efficiencies and results. At Asset Living, her goals include ensuring the portfolio achieves strong financial and operational results as well as maintaining a high level of team engagement and client satisfaction. Judy is a Certified Property Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management. When not at work, Judy enjoys hiking and long walks in the great Colorado outdoors and spending quality time with her family.
Cathy is responsible for overseeing and leading operations of the multi-family and affordable divisions of Asset Living. In that role, Cathy directs Asset’s team of regional portfolio supervisors, while simultaneously overseeing the software development and training departments. Cathy has worked in the multi-family industry for over 31 years, and previously worked for Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services. She holds expertise in both conventional and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) lease ups, budget development, affordable housing compliance, and asset growth. At Asset Living, her goals include providing exceptional management oversight and supporting the development of employees.
Over the course of her career, she has been awarded the CAPS and HCCP designations as well as a fair housing certification. When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family boating, camping, and relaxing next to the pool.
Micah is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the operations for Asset Living’s multi-family business. He has worked in the property management industry for 10 years, gaining experience and expertise in developing business strategies, employee development, and repositioning underperforming assets. At Asset Living, his goals include maximizing productivity, refining processes, and providing the best customer service possible.
Micah has been named a Community Manager of the Year and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. When Micah is not in the office, he enjoys working out, watching sports, and spending time with his wife and dog.
Luis is responsible for the organizational development for Asset and leads teams in learning and development training, and marketing and interior renovations. He has worked in the multi-family industry for over 35 years, and has previously worked for Shelton Residential, Lennar Corporation, Balcor, United Dominion Realty Trust and Equity Residential. Over the course of his career, he’s been awarded a CAM and CAPS designation from the National Apartment Association and is a certified instructor for NAA and IREM. He serves on the Board of the Arizona Multi-Housing Association and is the Education Chairman for the AMA.
Luis is extremely passionate about his team’s support of local charities and community events. Outside of work, he enjoys urban farming, cooking, and anything Disney.
Sharon is responsible for overseeing and leading the operations of the multi-family division of Asset Living. In that role, Sharon directs Asset’s team of regional portfolio directors and oversees the overall operations for a portfolio of communities in the Southwest. Sharon has worked in the multi-family industry for over 35 years, and has previously worked for Shelton Residential and Equity residential. She holds expertise in acquisition underwriting and analysis, lease-ups, budget development, executing value-add strategies, and improving operational performance.
Sharon studied journalism at Purdue University and holds a Real Estate License in the state of Arizona. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Multihousing Association. When Sharon is not in the office, she enjoys cooking, gardening, learning the violin, and traveling the world.
Todd is responsible for overseeing operations and leading teams in Asset’s Southwest multi-family division. He has worked in the multi-family industry for 25 years, most recently as Shelton Residential, gaining experience and expertise in class A and B lease ups, renovation projects, HOA management and new business presentations, as well as in financial underwriting and analysis. At Asset Living, his goals include leading communities and teams to top- tier performance, budget achievements, and business growth.
Todd is a past New Mexico and Texas Apartment Association board member and holds a New Mexico associate brokers license. Todd holds a degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he studied Business Management and Finance. When Todd is not in the office or on the road, he enjoys competitive golf, boating, and spending time with family.
Nicole is responsible for overseeing corporate operations for Asset’s multi-family division. She has worked in the industry for 19 years, most recently at Shelton Residential, gaining experience and expertise in risk management, acquisition and disposition processes, and new business development support. At Asset Living, her goals include providing high-quality support to team members, and increasing client growth along with ancillary revenue.
Nicole earned a business degree from New Mexico State University and currently holds a real estate license in Arizona and an insurance license in both Arizona and New Mexico. In 2020, the Arizona Multihousing Association named her a Corporate Employee of the Year nominee. When not in the office, she enjoys playing soccer, traveling, and hiking.
Mike is responsible for overseeing and leading construction and purchasing for Asset Living. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry, most recently as Shelton Residential, where he has served and explored many roles, including Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and Community Manager. At Asset Living, he helps coordinate due diligence efforts, assists the Regional Portfolio Directors with the execution of capital improvement projects, establishes relationships and accounts with contractors and suppliers for daily use in the operation of our communities, facilitates maintenance training programs, and monitors policy compliance issues.
Mike is originally from Minnesota, and has a son named Dayton. Outside of the office, he enjoys reading and watching sporting events.
Karen is responsible for handling the fiscal and operational performance of a diverse portfolio for Asset Living’s multi-family division. With over 37 years of property management experience, she has expertise in high-end new developments, repositioning assets through renovation and rehab, and monitoring market trends. At Asset Living, her goals include ensuring that her properties exceed rental growth expectations, coordinating successful lease ups, and repositioning or disposition of assets.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in Management and Sociology from Texas A&M University. Outside of working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family––especially her grandchildren!
Anna is responsible of overseeing and leading operations for the multi-family and affordable divisions of Asset Living where she focuses on corporate compliance and leading a team of regional supervisors. Anna has worked in the multi-family industry for 31 years, and previously worked for Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services. She holds expertise in lease ups, budget development, affordable housing compliance, and property growth. At Asset Living, her goals include providing exceptional management oversight, training, and support while fostering strong client relationships.
Over the course of her career, she has been awarded the CAPS, COS, and HCCP designations. Outside of the office she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Connie is responsible for overseeing and leading operations of the multi-family and affordable divisions, as well as the HUD compliance department of Asset Living. In that role, Connie directs Asset’s team of regional portfolio supervisors and oversees the overall operations for a portfolio of communities. Connie has worked in the multi-family industry for over 25 years, and has previously worked with Alpha Barnes Real Estate Services. She holds expertise in lease ups, budget development, affordable housing compliance, and repositioning troubled assets. At Asset Living, her goals include providing exceptional management oversight and support while fostering strong client relationships.
Connie is a licensed Texas real estate broker, and over the course of her career has been awarded the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS), and Public Housing Manager (PHM) designations. She holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Central Texas College. When Connie is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, antiquing, and gardening.
Debbie is responsible for overseeing the operations and activities in the South Texas region of Asset’s multi-family division. She has worked in the industry for over 30 years, gaining experience in affordable housing, conventional LIHTC housing, senior sites, PB Sec 8, Public Housing, RAD, value-add rehabs, and all phases of new construction assets. At Asset Living, her goals include making sure each and every employee feels empowered and obtaining the highest return on investment for all of her clients.
Debbie is a certified Public Housing Specialist (PHS) and on the Board of Directors of both the National Apartment Association and the Texas Apartment Association. Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband of 25 years.
Stacey is responsible for leading and overseeing the student housing operations division while meeting clients’ financial performance for Asset Living. She has worked in the property management industry for 28 years, gaining experience and expertise across all class types from new development to stabilized to property repositioning. At Asset Living, her goals include providing mentorship and support to the management team and ensuring communities operate with a competitive advantage. Stacey drives property performance, monitors market conditions, and develops specific strategies to ensure her client’s goals and objectives are achieved. In addition, she is dedicated to new business development with a concentration on cultivating and preserving third party relationships.
Stacey attended San Antonio Court Reporting Institute where she received her certification as a stenographer. When Stacey is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters watching soccer, traveling, and staying current on their favorite family show, Survivor.
Abby is responsible for overseeing and leading portfolio performance and operation management for Asset Livings’ Student, Campus division. She has worked in the student housing industry for nearly 15 years, gaining experience in all aspects of operations, stabilization, rebranding, new development, and client relations. At Asset Living, her goals include creating the company culture within her teams while ensuring her portfolio exceeds client expectations. Abby specializes in developing strong, professional on-site teams while training in high-level personal service. She focuses on building personal and client relationships and driving top performance results.Abby grew up near Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she studied finance and banking. When she is not working hard with her teams, Abby’s favorite things include yoga, reading, and spending time with her family, especially outdoors. Reading a good book at the lake while enjoying time with family is her definition of a perfect weekend.
Johanna is responsible for overseeing and leading portfolio and performance management for Asset Living’s campus business. She has worked in the industry for 29 years, gaining experience and expertise in conventional, new development, and student living. At Asset Living, her goals include driving employee performance through mentorship, development, and ongoing motivation, all while supporting and producing bottom line results for her clients.
Johanna Janovsky studied at the University of North Texas and holds a CAM designation. When Johanna is not in the office, she enjoys boating on the Chesapeake Bay and hanging out with her two dogs, Mocha and Bentley.
Todd is responsible for overseeing and leading portfolio and performance management for Asset Living’s campus division. He has worked in the student housing and multi-family sectors for more than 24 years, gaining experience and expertise in all aspects of property management, new development, and restructuring of value-add properties. At Asset Living, his goals include ensuring properties exceed resident, client, and company expectations. He consistently delivers high performance through key operational components that drive success for Asset Living––and our clients.
Todd holds CAM and NALP certifications with the National Apartment Association, and has held several seats throughout his career with various local apartment associations. He attended Chattanooga St. Edmondson Jr. College. When he’s not in the office, Todd enjoys camping, boating, and fishing––but only when he has gloves on hand to bait the hook!
Anthony is responsible for overseeing and leading a portfolio of Asset Living’s expansive campus housing team in performance and operations. He has worked in property management for over 25 years, gaining experience in on-campus housing, university relationships, new development, value-add rehabs, and acquisitions. Tony’s goals include developing strong teams and implementing the best practices to grow occupancy and NOI for our clients.
Anthony is a winner of Asset Living’s Ambassador of the Year and Bohon Awards for exceptional performance. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Illinois State University. When he’s not in the office, Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and watching football.
Scott is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of vice presidents and regional managers, monitoring daily operations, leasing, and fiscal performance for Asset Living’s student housing division. He has worked in the industry for 19 years, gaining experience and expertise in both on and off-campus assets, building university relationships, repositioning product through extensive renovations, and identifying key performance metrics and trends. At Asset Living, his goal is to build strong leadership teams while enhancing and refining business operations and processes to provide the best employee and client experience possible.
Scott earned both a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. When he’s not in the office, Scott enjoys spending time with his family and two yorkie dogs, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
Melodie is responsible for leading the support services department for Asset Living’s campus and multi-family businesses. She has worked in the student housing industry for 25 years, gaining experience and expertise in system implementation, staff training, Entrata, and stabilizing troubled assets. At Asset Living, her goals include increasing NOI and rent growth, as well as assembling and training high-performing onsite teams.
Mel is a certified teacher with a Bachelor’s in Education from The University of Toledo and a Master’s in Education, College Student Personnel from Kent State University. When Melodie is not in the office, she enjoys watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, working out, and cooking. She is also an avid traveler and can often be found sailing the seas via cruise ship!
Saad is responsible for leading the New Development Lease-Up teams across both Student and Multi-Family platforms. His role specializes in leasing, marketing and training strategies for Asset Living. He has worked in the industry for 11+ years, gaining experience and expertise in creating strategic leasing and marketing plans, analyzing market trends, and developing and training team members at all levels. At Asset Living, his goals include ensuring properties exceed budgeted occupancy, leading markets in leasing success, and identifying opportunities and strategies to overcome difficult market conditions.
Saad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from The University of Georgia. When Saad is not in the office, he enjoys competing in the Houston Cricket League, spending time with his wife traveling, and practicing his next singing performance for annual company conferences.
Emily is responsible for overseeing supportive marketing and leasing efforts for Asset’s campus housing divisions. Emily has been with Asset for more than ten years, after launching her career in 2010 as a Leasing Agent in College Park, MD. Her diverse experience has led her to work in many different markets across the nation, serving both our new development and operational portfolios.
Emily graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing and is a licensed real estate agent in several states. Outside of work, Emily enjoys writing, DIY home improvement projects, and weekend getaways in her RV with her husband and dog.
Monica is responsible for leading accounting within Asset’s multi-family sector. She has worked in the industry for 37 years, gaining experience and expertise in accounting, cash projections, and HUD knowledge. At Asset Living, her goals include providing timely and accurate reporting, cash forecasting, and supporting employees and clients with the best possible management tools.
Monica is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas and holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Accounting from the University of Houston. Outside of the office, Monica also enjoys movies, yoga, spending time with family, and spoiling her dogs (over the years she has owned six Rottweilers).
Ruth is responsible for the co-supervision of the Asset campus accounting department and supervises all corporate operations of the College Station office.
She has served in the role of corporate controller since joining the firm 25 years ago. Previously, Ruth was the corporate controller for Real Estate Management of America (REMA), prior to it being purchased by Asset Living in 1991. Ruth is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Outside of work, Ruth enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren) and going to the beach.
Patricia is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Asset’s multi-family properties and corporate accounting. She joined the real estate industry over six years ago while working as an Accounting Manager for both a public company that managed over 6,000 single family homes, and a private multi-family residential company.
Her 30 years of business experience began in banking in Chicago and New York City, working for Citi Corp as an Assistant Vice-President while most recently working for Shelton Residential. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling the world with her family, Friday date nights with her husband, and a good book.
Valerie is responsible for leading the accounting department for Asset Living’s corporate business. She has worked in the industry for over 30 years, gaining experience and expertise in asset management, property management (both multi-family and campus housing), and other aspects of corporate accounting. At Asset Living, her goals include improving reporting to add value to Asset Living, ensuring accuracy in the processing and reporting for all financial transactions, growing a talented team, and providing the best possible reporting and communication to optimize corporate financial processes.
When Valerie is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She also enjoys painting furniture, going to the dog park, and attending plays. Outside of her day job, she spends her time volunteering for various pet rescues, both in Houston and nationally.
Sean is responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations, business growth, and team development of Poetic. He believes in building strong, diverse teams that complement each other and work toward helping customers thrive. Sean has over 25 years of experience helping clients in real estate, financial services, healthcare, and higher education industries find innovative solutions to solve their business and technology challenges. Before joining Poetic, Sean held various leadership positions at Stewart Title, SunGard, Carolina Financial Securities, and High Point University.
Sean is a certified project manager and holds a Master of Science and MBA from Baylor University and an undergraduate in Mathematics with Computer Science from St. Andrews University. Sean enjoys traveling, playing football (soccer), cricket, and table tennis, and volunteers at local charities, including Habitat for Humanity and Houston Food Bank.
Rebecca is responsible for overseeing Poetic’s financial planning and reporting, controller functions, and risk management. She has worked in the finance and technology industries for over 20 years, gaining experience and expertise in leading the growth of new and small businesses. At Poetic, her goals include supporting the expansion and growth of the agency’s service offerings, always striving to provide the best possible client experience and the highest quality deliverable.
Rebecca holds a BSE in Computer Engineering from Tulane University and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. When Rebecca is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, running marathons, and playing tennis. Fun fact: Rebecca is an identical twin!
Ryan is a seasoned expert in real estate property management for his achievements in strategic planning systems and hands-on leadership. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Asset Living, he oversees all operational aspects of the firm and leads an executive team to deliver the highest value to clients. He is responsible for the company’s growth initiatives, acquisition strategy, and overall talent development. Under his direction, the family-built real estate firm has grown from a small, Houston-based business into the fifth-largest property management firm in the nation.
Prior to joining Asset in 2007, Ryan worked in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs and was responsible for the execution of M&A and financing transactions. He is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics while competing on the varsity soccer team. Ryan is Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s (YPO) Houston Chapter, a Lifetime Ambassador for Texas Children’s Hospital, and a member of the Board of Visitors for MD Anderson. Most recently, Ryan was named the 2021 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Winner for the Gulf Coast Region.
A native Houstonian, Ryan resides in his hometown with his wife, Meredith, his son, Stone, and his two labs, Sako and Gunner. He enjoys outdoor adventure sports, mixed martial arts, reading, and spending time with his family. Be sure to ask him about his efforts to become the world’s best ping-pong player sometime.
Jeremy Lynch is a Partner of Trilantic North America. Jeremy is also a member of the Investment Committee of Fund VI North America. His primary focus is on investments in the business services sector. Jeremy joined Trilantic North America in 2009 at its inception, prior to which he was a Principal at Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking (LBMB). Prior to re-joining LBMB in 2005, Jeremy worked as an Analyst and Associate at LBMB from 1999 to 2003. He is currently a director of 24-7 Intouch, Asset Living and Tercera. He was previously a director of Addison Group and MicroStar Logistics. Jeremy holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S., magna cum laude, in Applied Mathematics from Union College.
Daniel (“Dan”) Siegman is a Principal of Trilantic North America. His primary focus is on investments in the business services, consumer and light industrials sectors. Dan joined Trilantic North America in 2013, prior to which he worked at Invus Opportunities, a private equity firm, and at The Boston Consulting Group. He is currently a director of Asset Living, Outdoor Living Supply and Tercera. Dan holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A., summa cum laude, in International Relations and History from the University of Pennsylvania.
Michael Burcham spends his time working to build businesses as a CEO, strategist, entrepreneur, educator and executive coach. He currently serves as Executive Partner with Shore Capital Partners. Throughout his career, Michael has scaled and sold 3 healthcare organizations––Theraphysics, ParadigmHealth, and Narus Health. He is also the founding President and CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, where he served from 2010 - 2015.
In addition to his work in the healthcare industry, Burcham teaches Innovation and Launching New Ventures at the Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University. Michael served as the Co-Chair of the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the U.S. Secretary of Commerce (2014 - 2016). Michael is also a strategic advisor and Board Member to a variety of healthcare organizations and investment funds. In his free time, he is an avid writer and a frequent national speaker on becoming a leader, leading in difficult times, entrepreneurial thinking, personal self-development, and healthcare strategy.
