ATLANTA (November 13, 2025) – Asset Living, one of the largest property management companies in the nation, is proud to announce that Bonnie Smetzer, Executive Vice President of Multi-Family Operations, has been elected to the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) Executive Committee for 2026. Beginning January 1, Smetzer will serve as Secretary for the 2026 term, and she will be the sixth woman in NAA’s 87-year-long history to be elected to NAA’s executive committee. Smetzer will also serve as the Chair of the 2026 National Apartment Association Political Action Committee (NAAPAC) Board of Trustees, a bipartisan political action committee that supports congressional candidates as well as understands the needs and concerns of the apartment housing industry.
“Anyone who has worked with Bonnie knows how much she cares about this industry and the people in it,” says Asset Living CEO and President Ryan McGrath. “She’s spent her career raising standards, building leaders, and giving back. Seeing her take on this role at NAA while continuing to lead our multifamily operations makes all of us at Asset Living proud, and it’s exactly the kind of leadership the industry needs.”
Smetzer was officially sworn in during NAA’s installation dinner on November 12, 2025, at the Loews Atlanta Hotel, following approval of the 2026 slate of officers at the Assembly of Delegates meeting. Her term as Secretary will run through December 31, 2026.
As part of the NAA Executive Committee, Smetzer will help guide the association’s strategic priorities and advocacy efforts on behalf of the rental housing industry.
With over 40 years of experience in multifamily operations, Smetzer has been an influential voice within Asset Living and across the industry. She received the Advocate of the Year Award in 2020 from NAA, the Hall of Fame Award in 2021 from the Florida Apartment Association, the Advocate of the Year Award in 2022 from the Apartment Association of Greater Orlando, the Neil Armstrong Award in 2020 from the Space Coast Apartment Association and the President’s Advocacy Champion Award from the Florida Apartment Association in 2025.
