5 Tips to Declutter Your Apartment This Spring

With the winter season ending and the spring rolling around, it's time to start decluttering your living space. Reorganizing your area can bring your apartment a new look and feel. Asset Living has your back with five easy tips for decluttering and tidying up your living area this spring.

Tip #1: Create a Plan of Action

The best way to start the decluttering process is to create a plan of action. Creating a plan can help with staying calm about where you should begin. Blocking off time for cleaning and determining what areas you want to tackle first can help tidy up your place to create a new ambiance and feel.

Tip #2: Out with the Old

If you have a packed living space, it's time to eliminate the items you are not using anymore. It can be old clothes, shoes, appliances, or anything you feel occupies space, and you are not using anymore. The rule of thumb for clothes and shoes is if you haven’t worn the items in over a year, then it’s time to sell (which can be a great way to make a quick profit) or donate.

Tip #3: Go Room by Room

Cleaning room by room goes hand in hand with creating a plan of action. Once you create your plan, it will help lay out what room should be first on your decluttering list. Experts recommend that the best area to start the decluttering process is in the bathroom. Another place to begin is by cleaning the area in which you spend most of your time as well.

Tip #4: Put Items Not Used into Storage

If you have seasonal items you are not currently using, consider putting those in storage. This will allow you to free up space and store what you are not using safely but do not want to toss. If your apartment has storage units, we highly recommend storing seasonal belongings there.

Tip #5 Organize Your Space

Lastly, ensuring your apartment stays organized is key to avoiding clutter. Using organization bins helps free up space in any room and keeps it clean. A place to organize your belongings, like a storage cube, can help ensure your belongings are in a specific area and out of sight.
