Living in San Marcos, TX, is a blast. The sense of community here is like no other. Getting the opportunity to work with local businesses and vendors has given me the chance to make several long-lasting connections in the area. Being part of such a welcoming community adds so much value to my daily life.
There's never a dull moment with the wide range of activities and attractions available in the area. Whether it's soaking in the beauty of the San Marcos River, catching one of the local events like Summer in the Park, attending a Texas State University game, or exploring a local hotspot - there's always something fun to dive into. With major cities just a few hours' drive away, spontaneous road trips and weekend getaways are easy to plan, offering endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. San Marcos delivers the perfect mix of excitement, community, convenience, and collaboration, making it the ultimate place to call home.
Local Spotlight:
Blue Dahlia, just a 5-minute walk from our community in downtown San Marcos, is one of my favorite spots, with some of the finest brunch options. With its charming decor and inviting patio, Blue Dahlia is perfect for catching up with friends or celebrating special occasions. I highly recommend the Blueberry Blintzes or the Pearl Sugar Belgian Waffles.
Team Favorites:
My team is always eager to gather at Chimy's for any occasion. This local favorite is a cherished gem, providing a lively and welcoming setting for us to relax and connect. Conveniently situated near the square, Chimy's offers the perfect blend of Tex-Mex food and a good atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for us to unwind and socialize. Whether catching up with friends over happy hour drinks or enjoying a team meal together, Chimy's is our top choice.
Favorite Lunchtime Spot:
Currently, my go-to spot for satisfying my pho cravings is Phở Tran88. It's a locally owned treasure with the friendliest staff. I first discovered it last year when two of my Community Assistants introduced me, and I've been hooked ever since. Phở Tran88 never disappoints; my usual order is the P6— #IYKYK. The warm and soothing pho broth is a perfect break from the busy day of being a community manager, making it one of the best places for unwinding and recharging. I highly recommend finding new favorite spots from your team – they know all the best places in town!
Team Bonding Adventures:
This past winter, our team went on an adventure to Cibolo, a nearby town, for our holiday outing. We chose AxeShack, a recently opened axe-throwing lanes and pizzeria, and it was an absolute blast! Their axe-throwing lanes have a system that lets us compete against one another. Not only was the axe-throwing experience so much fun, but the food was also phenomenal. Being a local business, the ownerwent above and beyond to ensure our holiday party was memorable and personalized. We could take time for gift exchanges and spend quality time together, making it an unforgettable night for everyone who attended.
