PHOENIX, AZ (September 08, 2022) – Asset Living Vice President Sharon Kuhlman was selected to serve on the Task Force for the Arizona Multihousing Association's (AMA) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative. The program spurs from the National Apartment Associations Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion Grant, where AMA was one of the recipients. This initiative aims to provide the resources needed to ensure inclusivity, equality, and equity for all of Arizona’s multihousing workforce and serves as a model for the rest of the nation.
In this new role, Kuhlman is most looking forward to contributing and being a resource for all Arizona property management firms, communities, and residents. "I’m excited to collaborate with other leaders in our industry in hopes that one day diversity, equity, and inclusion will be something that our entire industry embraces," says Kuhlman.
At Asset Living, Kuhlman oversees operations for a portfolio of multi-family properties. Sharon's industry experience with employees at all levels gives her the knowledge and expertise to help assist in new initiatives within AMA. One of the Task Force's first initiatives is rolling out a brand-new tool kit. "This kit will aid in our collective goal of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our industry, local organizations, and Arizona communities. I’m very anxious to roll out this new initiative to our Arizona Asset Living teams as a first look," says Kuhlman.
"As a member of the AMA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, I believe that diversity, while essential, is not enough without equity. Equity refers to fair and just policies, and ensuring that these policies and practices are a part of our daily culture. And finally, Inclusion. Inclusion within our organization ensures that all associates have a sense of belonging and feel respected in an environment where they are able to achieve their full potential."
This task force is important to Kuhlman because it helps further the mission she believes is true. Asset Living's mission is that everyone deserves a place to call home. "Home refers not only to a place for our residents but also for our associates, colleagues, and friends who make up Asset Living," says Kuhlman.
