5 Ways to Personalize Your Apartment

After moving into a new apartment, personalizing the space can help to make it feel like home. Our Asset Living team of experts compiled a list of five things that can be done to customize your apartment.

Create a mood board.

Creating a mood board can help to define a style and explore other styles for a new apartment. Simply cut out photos from magazines or try using an online tool to pin designs as inspiration.

Express yourself with art.

Art is a great way to personalize a room. Whether it’s something you created or a piece from your favorite artist, the walls of your apartment are a place to get creative (but make sure to check your lease agreement for the proper way to decorate and hang items on the wall). Display photos of friends and loved ones, or you could even frame a photo of a beloved pet. Play with patterns and different textures to create walls of art and photos that express who you are and reflect your unique personality.

Find a cozy corner to decorate.

Establish a space in your apartment as an area you will use to relax. Whether you plan to use the corner for morning coffee with your roommates or to catch up on some late night reading, you can make this space one that’s comfortable and tranquil for all. Blankets, pillows and beanbags are good ways to define a cozy spot to relax in after a long day.

Choose colors you love.

Do you have a color pallet in mind? Colors can help to improve mood and make a space even more enjoyable. Incorporate a piece of furniture or a comforter that has all the colors within your desired palette and use it to pick out the remaining decor to match!

Show off your prized possessions.

Do you have any beloved items that remind you of home or bring joy into your life? Find a unique way to incorporate them into the room design. Not only will this help to personalize the space, but it can also be a way to incorporate layers of shelving (such as floating shelves) into your design plan for additional storage space.

We hope these five tips on how to personalize your apartment help to make your new apartment feel like home! Do you have an apartment you decorated or personalized?
