Asset Living’s Jordan Blascoe Shares Advice on #BecomingAnAsset

Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Jordan Blascoe, Community Manager.

What is your background and experience in and what do you do within Asset Living?

“I started with Asset Living in September 2019 as a part-time Community Assistant while attending Arkansas State University. I quickly fell in love with the industry and climbed to the property level. I was a Resident Director and Leasing Manager before being promoted to the corporate office as a Traveling Operational Property Specialist. From there, I accepted a position back as a Community Manager at my home property in Arkansas.”

What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?

“Be sure to take advantage of the endless opportunities to make connections. Asset Living utilizes an in-depth training program, allowing collaboration across all regions. Bouncing ideas off as many minds as possible is something that Asset encourages strongly. I’ve also been lucky to be an Asset Ambassador for three years. I would recommend it to anyone within Asset looking to build connections!”

What drives you to be the best team member possible?

“Having a positive impact on my team is so important to me. I can remember being a new Community Assistant and the impact people like Jason Fort, Saad Arij, and Alex Abernathy had on me. They've helped turn housing from a part-time gig to a full-time career for me. To have the opportunity to have that same impact on my team is everything to me.”

What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?

“My favorite memory from this past year has to be GM Development in Houston. Visiting the new corporate office, meeting new colleagues, and listening to presentations from some of the best minds in student housing was an incredible experience. The cross-pollination of ideas at that conference significantly changed my mindset moving forward.”

Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?

“In my free time, I enjoy taking the time to unwind. I love going to concerts, traveling, watching sports, fantasy football, playing golf, or just chilling with my friends and dog. ”
