Asset Living’s Ryan Rizzo-Kubat Shares Advice on #BecomingAnAsset

Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Ryan Rizzo-Kubat, Junior Accountant.

What is your background and experience in and what do you do within Asset Living?

“I started my housing career as a sophomore in college with Asset Living as an Asset Ambassador. Throughout college, I continued my journey within the company, working my way up to becoming the Assistant General Manager by the end of my junior year. Recently, I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Finance; seeking further growth within the company I transferred to Dallas as a Junior Accountant.

Post-grad I was presented with many opportunities for growth, whether that be a Junior Accounting role, General Manager, or another career path; I was given options to see what best fit my journey, while also growing within the company.

Because of my growth with Asset Living, I have had the opportunity to work on-site and now on the corporate side. Getting to experience the operational and behind-the-scenes aspects of the company has allowed me to grow as a professional and presented me with more opportunities than I ever could have imagined from starting as an Asset Ambassador.”

What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?

“Embrace the opportunity to learn, develop new skills, and expand your knowledge. Any challenges or obstacles that come your way are a part of learning, use them as opportunities for growth rather than negative setbacks. Overall, have a mindset for growth, be open to feedback, ask questions, seek out experiences, and continuously strive to improve.”

What drives you to be the best team member possible?

“Being available and open to my co-workers has helped me become the best team member possible; it enables more collaboration, builds trust, facilitates knowledge sharing, provides support, and overall enhances our team dynamic. By pursuing these qualities, I can contribute positively and productively to my work environment and be a valued and respected teammate.”

What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?

“During my very first leasing season as Assistant General Manager, only the second regular leasing season for the property, we were able to fully lease out within three weeks. While it was slightly stressful, it was such an exciting accomplishment not only for the property but for my career as well.”

Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?

“Outside of work, I love to go on adventures, travel, experience different cultures and foods, discover new places, and create everlasting memories along the way. I also enjoy getting to spend as much quality time as I can with friends, family, and my dog, Tusk!"
