Asset Living’s Simone Lantier Shares Advice on #BecomingAnAsset

Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Simone Lantier, Leasing Manager.

What's your professional background, and what do you do at Asset Living?

“My journey with Asset Living began in November of 2021 when I joined Vox Miami as a Community Assistant, which was shortly after the grand opening of the property. I was in my third semester at The University of Miami, trying to figure out my path. At the time, I was majoring in nursing. Little did I know that this role would become a steppingstone for tremendous personal and professional growth within the team and the company. My experience at Vox inspired me to make a significant life change—I decided to switch my major, and I am now a part of the School of Communications. Taking a chance on something new helped me to discover my passion that has since reshaped my academic and professional journey. Soon after becoming a part of the team, I earned a promotion to the role of Leasing Manager. In this capacity, my primary focus is cultivating positive and engaging relationships with our residents and prospective tenants.

I love so many aspects of my role, but the most exciting thing I have accomplished is being responsible for selecting and designing our promotional and clothing items. Since working at Vox, my artistic side has come out when working on graphic design projects, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity to utilize and strengthen my skills. In addition, I have been involved in three lease-ups where I've witnessed the remarkable progress made by the Vox Miami team. This experience has been so gratifying, especially with the perspective gained over my extended tenure with the team. Vox Miami has emerged as a premier off-campus housing option for students, and I feel privileged to have contributed to its success!”

What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?

“While it may seem cliché, my advice to a new employee looking to #BecomeAnAsset is that it is essential not to shy away from embracing new opportunities. Although the initial stages of the journey may be nerve-racking or challenging, consider leveraging those moments to capitalize on the multitude of new opportunities that await you.”

What drives you to be the best team member possible?

“The camaraderie with my coworkers, our seamless teamwork, and the substantial strides we've accomplished over the past three years since opening motivate me to be the best team member possible. It is so easy to succeed when you have a team that is all on the same page! It is important that I continue to strive to do my best, not only for myself but for my team. We are all in this together.”

What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?

"My favorite memory from this year was traveling to another Asset Living property in Gainesville, FL, to assist in their lease-up. Being recognized for my efforts and growth was an amazing feeling, giving me an extra boost of confidence in my position. On my trip, I worked with the property's amazing team and one of the Regional Leasing and Training Directors (RLTD). Throughout the week, I gained exceptional experience, learned new things, and brought back many new ideas to my property. While there, I offered my assistance leasing up, offered tips for more lead interaction through social media, etc. This experience showed me the sense of community that Asset Living provides and how, even though we may work at different properties, we are always there to support one another. I am so grateful for the experience and knowledge I gained from that trip."

Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?

"One of my favorite pastimes outside of work is visiting the local Miami beaches, where I indulge in picnics, occasional photo shoots with friends, watching the sunset and taking in all the vitamin D I can from the Miami sun. Exploring the food scene is another passion of mine, and I frequently venture out to experience the diverse Miami restaurant scene. Originally from Connecticut, I am grateful to live in Miami and take advantage of what it has to offer!"
