Asset Living’s Melodie Raab is responsible for leading the support services department for Asset Living’s campus businesses. She has worked in the student housing industry for 26 years, gaining experience and expertise in system implementation, staff training, Entrata, and stabilizing troubled assets. At Asset Living, her goals include increasing NOI and rent growth, as well as assembling and training high-performing onsite teams. In this blog, Raab shares her past career highlights, favorite projects, and lessons learned along the way.
Can you share a few of your career highlights?
“My career has come full circle. I started in a teaching position and moved into student housing, working my way from property staff to corporate. Working with the support team has allowed me to utilize all skills to mentor others within our Asset Living team.”
What are some of your greatest work memories or what has been the most rewarding part of your career?
“My most rewarding memories have been turning properties around. Earning the "Most Improved Property" award is a true highlight of the work and dedication of the entire staff. Now I am in a position to take my hands-on knowledge and pass it along to others within our organization which is equally rewarding.”
What has been some of the best career advice or lessons learned throughout your career?
“Never stop learning! As technology advances, we must adapt our procedures to increase productivity and streamline processes. Systems change, and you need to adapt and stay innovative in the space.”
