Understanding how to build a successful team starts with learning from those who have worked hard to develop and shape their career to become an integral part of the team. In the #BecomingAnAsset series, we ask Asset Living employees to share advice for those looking to grow personally and professionally – from turning challenges into opportunities for career development to persevering towards a promotion – our team members are full of quality advice that can help to guide anyone towards success. Today we are hearing from Asset Living’s Community Manager, Victoria Franklin.
What is your background and experience and what do you do within Asset Living?
“Back in 2004, I started working as a part-time leasing agent. I worked my way up from a Leasing Agent to Assistant Community Manager, and now Community Manager. I have worked most of my years in the Multi-Family sector but then transitioned over to a tax credit property until I finally landed myself in Student Housing where I have been for almost 4 years.”
What piece of advice would you give to a new employee who is #BecomingAnAsset?
“First off, Welcome to the FAMILY! Working with Asset Living has been truly a blessing, I have never worked for a company that stands for its employees. I have met some amazing people who have become my mentors and good friends. Everyone is always willing to help. Our training department is phenomenal. Don’t be shy, if you don’t know something, ASK! You have now become part of a huge success story. Your journey has just begun.”
What drives you to be the best team member possible?
“Building a team as one! We all need each other to strive to be better. When you work together to be successful, great things happen. I always like to make sure that all my team members are given all the information they need to be successful in what they do. It’s rewarding knowing that someone can accomplish and learn so much and is able to grow.”
What is your favorite memory from this year or within your career at Asset Living?
“I would have to say my favorite memory within my career with Asset Living would be completing turn every year! It is such a stressful time of the year, and it comes by quicker and quicker each year. Every year we are given new challenges that happen, and we have been able to overcome the hard work with determination, which makes it all worth it seeing all our new residents start a new chapter in a new place. It’s their home away from home.”
Lastly, what do you like to do outside of work in your free time?
“I am big on family and friends. I am married to my husband Shayne, we have four children (Logan, Blake, Mason, and Arya) and 5 dogs (Chloe, Roxy, Murphy, Remi, and Bailey) most of my free time is always busy! When we are not running around with our children, we love to have cookouts with friends. We also love to have movie nights with our children at least once a week. Lazy days are always a must!”
